Although people normally assume that cleaning a pool is an extremely strenuous task, all it takes is the right equipment and a bit of effort.
Here are some simple and easy ways you can use to disinfect your pool:
Chlorine water purification
This is the most common method of swimming pool purification used by domestic pool owners. The use of chemicals such as chlorine in the water helps to kill and eradicate any microorganisms present in it. These chemicals especially target those chemicals that pose a risk to the health of the swimmer. Over the course of many years, this has been the most common method of swimming pool disinfection.
However, the flipside of using chlorine as a disinfectant is that it forms chloramines in the water that can irritate the eyes and nose of the swimmer. It also brings forth that “swimming pool smell”, which may be unpleasant to some. Therefore more and more pool owners are looking for alternatives to chlorine as a disinfectant.
One of the more common ways of swimming pool disinfection, this element greatly reduces the number of chloramines and parasitic microorganisms in the swimming pool water. Also, it kills the organisms Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia, that are immune to the effect of chlorine.
Ozone pool water disinfection
This is another extremely effective method of pool water disinfection. Although it may seem that ozone and UV rays are doing the same thing, there is a primary difference between the two- ozone oxidizes the pool water whereas UV rays disinfect it. Together, these two treatments can work wonders for your pool water. Both these treatments are incorporated into one in the Advanced Oxidation Process, which is the next big thing in pool disinfection.
Saltwater electrolysis also uses chlorine to disinfect the pools, but in this process, chlorine is produced in a natural way. This method ensures that enough chlorine is produced in the water to kill the microorganisms, which means that you need not keep stock of a dangerous chemical like chlorine lying around the house. In combination with the UV rays, salt water electrolysis can reduce the number of chloramines in the water to 20 percent. Because of this reason, more and more modern pool owners are choosing to install pools that have a built-in salt water electrolysis system.
